PROGRAM FORMAT

To promote a safe acquisition of skills by players, the U10’s programme will be as follows:

  • Girls and boys are welcome to play
  • Friday afternoon only programme - Games are played with 20 minute halves
  • Your child does not have to join a club - U10’s is run on a ‘team’ basis with the emphasis on building friendship amongst players
  • Emphasise on safety and fun through teaching correct techniques and playing running rugby and scoring of tries
  • •The games - All games are played following the ARU’s pathway rules. This promotes safe tackle approach and correct roll to ground technique
    •Tackling is part of this age group - We actively monitor all games in this age group making sure tackling technique is correct
  • Coach to run on the field with the players to keep games moving and promote safety
  • Junior Rugby sessions are smoke and alcohol free zones

TRAINING AND GAMES

All teams train at their own time. All games are played on Friday night starting at 5.30pm at Stuarts Park, Port Macquarie. This makes it easier for parents to get their children involved.

Times will be as follows:

  • Games - 40 mins commencing at 5:30 pm
  • Games all finished by 6:15pm - BBQ available from 5:30 pm for dinner

REGISTRATION

The Committee wants to keep costs as low as possible. U10’s Registration is only $95 which includes player insurance.

Registration sessions will be held at Stuart Park, Port Macquarie from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on the following Friday afternoons preceding the start of the season:

Uniform

  • Jersey's are supplied to the players
  • Black shorts are recommended
  • Mouthguard, socks and shorts at player's cost
  • Mouthguard is compulsory. No mouthguard - no play
  • Headgear is optional but the PMJRU strongly recommend it

Timeline

16 week Friday afternoon programme excluding holidays.

  • No sessions during school holidays
  • No session on Friday of June long weekend i.e. 10 June

Teams

Games will be 10 a side played on half a field, once again the emphasis is to promote friendship & balanced teams.
